February

Yes, February is the shortest month but sometimes it goes by soooo slowly.  It's cold and we don't go outside as much so there's a lot of built up energy and it just makes the days longer and harder.  So I'll start off the monthly summary with two pics of my cuties when they weren't driving me crazy.
working on his jaw strength during therapy
Walker has almost given up his afternoon nap but sometimes he will take one while we're waiting in the carpool line to get Savannah and sometimes he will even lay down to watch cartoons and just nod off on his own.
so cute when he's sleeping
We found out some super exciting news this month!  Uncle Michael and Rach are giving us not one but TWO little cousins!!!!  To say that we are all surprised is the understatement of the year especially since there are no twins on either side of the family.  We can't wait to find if we're getting boys, girls, or one of each in March.  And then they arrive in August.  Soooooooo exciting!!!
The cold dreary weather kept us inside a lot which leads to surprises both pleasant and not so much.
playing quietly together = pleasant
crazy stunts = not so pleasant

such a sweet moment of S reading to W
Savannah had a Father-Daughter dance at her school but unfortunately Oscar was out of town.  I really didn't want her to miss out so it was such a blessing that our good friends, the Byrds, invited her to go along with Lila and Tom.  We are so lucky to have this sweet family in our lives!

This month we set up our Girl Scout cookie booths are various spots in town.  Our first booth was in front of the Harris Teeter in Meadowmont.  My head hurts just thinking back to these times.

There were a few days that we managed to get and enjoy the fresh air.  I convinced Savannah to take her bike out to the Tobacco Trail and ride while I ran and pushed Walker in the stroller.  She did awesome---5 miles total!!!  She did better than she or I thought she could do and she was so proud of herself afterwards.  I'm so looking forward to many more of these rides/runs in the future.
Walker has developed some strange obsession with Pop-tarts.  He doesn't really eat them but he loves to carry the boxes around.  And he absolutely has to stop and look at all the options every time we go to the grocery store.  I think he's trying to collect them all for some reason.

Valentine's Day fell on a Sunday this year so Savannah had her class party on Friday and Walker had his on Thursday.  He looked so cute in his little love bug headpiece! The following Saturday I taught a Kids Pop class with both my little Valentines.

The rest of the month was pretty low key with just more of our usual day to day things.  Here are a few pics to round out the month.

Happy Heart Day!

Savannah started getting ready for Valentine's Day as soon as the Christmas decorations came down.  She made a list of about 30 children who she wanted to make valentines for this year and she had each and every one made the week before her party at school.  She even started callingValentine's Day "her day" because it's all about everything being pink and red.  She couldn't wait till the 13th when her class would have their party and exchange cards.

The actual Valentine's Day was on Saturday and I gave both Savannah and Walker a special bag with chocolates and a few goodies.  Then I taught a special PopUp class in the morning while Oscar went for a bike ride.  For dinner we had a family date at CPK followed by dessert at Menchies.  I loved spending this special day with my three favorite people!  And now Savannah's ready to start celebrating Easter.

Valentine's Day 2014

This year Valentine's Day fell on a Friday which Savannah was soooo excited about because that meant she would have her class Valentine's party on the actual day; however, the snow kept us all stuck at home.  No matter, we still had a special day.
Savannah woke up bright and early and immediately wanted to open her valentines and to give us our special cards.  She had been working daily on everyone's cards for at least the past month.  And because a store bought card just wouldn't do for our creative and artsy daughter, Oscar and I each made her a special card.  She was beyond excited to receive her cards and her special little gift that included 3 small My Little Ponies and a mini Princess Elsa.  And for my smallest little Valentine, Walker received 3 little Chuggington train cars which he loves.
By late afternoon the snow was finally plowed enough that we able to leave the house and go out to dinner as a family.  Unfortunately without a reservation, our options were limited so we ended up at good 'ol California Pizza Kitchen.

What a special day with my three valentines!!  I'm the luckiest girl in the world!
And now Savannah gets to have two Valentine's Day since her party has been rescheduled to Monday.  She is soooo excited about giving her friends their cards.  She has worked so hard on them for so long.  Every day she thought of something extra to add to make them extra special.  She really is such a sweet and loving little girl.
