My growing girl!

This weekend really showed me how big my little baby is becoming.  Saturday Savannah had her first meal while not attached to me.  I know you're supposed to wait until babies are at least 4 months old to give them anything other than breast milk but I really thought she was ready for it.  So I mixed up some way too expensive organic cereal (I guess I thought the better the stuff that I bought, the less bad I would feel about breaking the 4 month rule) and I made sure Oscar was in place to get the perfect picture.  Savannah absolutely LOVED it!!!!  She did better than I hoped.  In fact, she even wanted more later that night after I attempted to nurse her before bed.  She seemed so proud of herself---she's quite a big girl now.
Open wide!
That's delicious, Mom!
Okay, so half of it may have ended up on her face and bib.
What!? I'm finished already?!?

We also tried out her new jumpy thing.  Finally a toy that she really loves!!
I'm not so sure about this, Mom.

Hey Mom, don't let go!!

Actually, this is kinda fun!!

Blizzard of 2010

This February has been the snowiest month in history for New York.  In fact, we just had one of the top 4 biggest snowstorms of all time for the state.  Savannah and I were trapped in our own home for 2 days before we were finally able to go out and get some fresh air.  And for two people who are quite accustomed to being out and about, 2 days stuck indoors was brutal!!  Today we finally emerged and we all walked down the block to our favorite little park to take some pictures.  The snow was absolutely beautiful so we definitely took advantage of it while we could.

A rare photo of all 3 of us

My grumpy little girl

Savannah appears to be quite grumpy in the pictures but she really was happy to be out of the house.  The sight of the camera nowadays really turns her smile into frowns--I assume it's a result of us taking way too many pictures.

As pretty as the snow was, it definitely wasn't worth being cooped up for days.  Just another reason to be excited about moving back down south.  Only one more month to go--WOO HOO!!!!

Play Time

Savannah has really become quite a playful little girl in the past few weeks.  Now that she can firmly grab things, she loves to play on her play mat and with balls and rattles (all of which go in her mouth first).  I love watching her giggle and squirm in excitement.

Of course she will only play by herself if she doesn't see me.  As soon as I come into view, the "eh eh eh" starts and my few minutes of alone time are over.  But that's okay...with a smile like hers, I can't resist her for too long anyways.

3 Month CheckUp

Savannah and I just returned from her 3 month checkup at the doctors office and it never ceases to amaze me how big she is getting.  It appears that she is still off the charts in the weight department--16 lbs 8 oz!!  She's also grown an inch since last month so at 24.5 inches she is in the 80th percentile.  The doctor looks at her and then looks at me trying to figure out how such a big baby can possibly come from me.  I guess there is a recessive gene somewhere in my line.  I can't believe she is already wearing 6m clothes!  There were so many cute outfits that she never got the chance to wear and I've already packed them all away (just in case we're blessed with another little girl in the future).

Savannah also got 2 more shots today but unlike last months visit, she didn't remain her happy self.  From the moment the doctor touched her, the tears started pouring out.  The poor little thing screamed the whole time.  It totally breaks my heart to watch her cry.  After such a traumatic morning, I think we both need a nap.
Please Mom, don't make me go back!!!

So I'm wondering when attachment issues start.  I thought I remember reading that it happens around 6 months but not with Savannah.  I've really noticed within the past week that she doesn't want anyone other than me holding her.  She could be perfectly fine one minute, pass her off to someone else, and the meltdown starts.  She comes back to me and she's perfectly happy again.  Good grief!!  High maintenance or what?!
Who you calling high maintenance?!

A Great Weekend

What a wonderful weekend we just had!  I got to spend 3 full days with my two favorite people on the planet.
My Valentines

We spent Saturday afternoon in the city and had dinner at our good friends, Carter and LoAn's,  new apartment.  They will be welcoming they're own little one is just a couple of months so there was a lot of baby talk taking place.  They are going to make great parents and I hate that we won't still be around to help welcome the arrival of their baby.

Sunday was Valentine's Day and Oscar surprised me with roses and a beautiful bracelet.  Savannah and I had specially made 2 photo albums to give to him.  With a newborn around, making anything is a great accomplishment.  Then we went and had a really nice lunch in SoHo.  Savannah is so well-behaved during the day that Oscar and I love to take her out to adult lunches.  It's like going on a date with a 3 month old :)  Traditionally I'm not really a fan of Valentine's Day, since it really is just a made up day by Hallmark, but it's always nice to feel special and loved.  We really need to try to do that everyday.

Monday was a holiday so we spent the afternoon out in Rye, NY visiting the Woolsey family.  They have 2 of the most beautiful children ever and both are at a really fun age so we always have a great time with them.  Plus it's always nice to be around other young parents who can share tips with you.

We're slowly getting closer to our moving date which means we're running out of weekends to spend with good friends.  I am so excited about moving to NC but I'm also a little sad about the great people we're leaving behind.  I guess that's what group vacations are for :)

Savannah is 3 months old!!!

I can't believe my baby girl is now 3 months old. It feels like she just joined our family and at the same time I feel as if she's always been with us. I can't even remember what our life was like before her. She has given us more joy than I ever thought possible. I never imagined it was possible to love someone so much.
Today is her 3 month birthday!

At 3 months Savannah is doing all of the following:
~holding her head up on her own
~giggling/squealing in delight
~lifting her head 90 degrees while on her stomach
~smiling all the time
~following objects passed from side to side in front of her
~grasping everything...toys, hair, necklaces, ugh!
~turns in the direction of Mommy and Daddy's voice
~loves taking baths in the big bath tub
~usually wakes up only once a night to eat
~unfortunately still prefers sleeping with Mommy and Daddy
~enjoys standing on her feet with a little help from Mommy
~likes watching morning cartoons, especially The Smurfs
Such a happy girl!

Bath time is so much fun!

This is her recliner for watching cartoons.

We're still working on rolling over but she'll have that mastered soon enough. I love how everyday brings something new. Experiencing life through a little one is truly amazing. I have the best job in the whole world!!
