My new trainer

Today I had my first session with my new trainer...

After a grueling 55 minutes of going up and down hills pushing an additional 45 pounds, I'm exhausted!  She really kicked my tail!!  Who needs those pricey NYC trainers when I've got this little cutie.  This workout even exhausted her :)
Until tomorrow.....

Savannah's 5 month update

Today Savannah turns 5 months old!!  What a month it has been!  She has been such a trooper through all the transitions that have been taking place in our lives.  We've packed up the only home she has ever known, said goodbye to so many friends, took a major road trip (major for an infant), moved into a hotel, and totally disrupted her schedule.  I think it's actually been harder on me than that it has been on her.  I miss her long afternoon naps!!  Now I spend our afternoons with her wrapped up in her Moby wrap against me because that's the only way I can calm her enough to take a nap.  I just hope all this extra weight that's attached to me for 3 hours a day is benefitting my glutes and quads :)

So back to her update.  We visited our new pediatrician today and I've discovered that Savannah prefers young male doctors (who can blame her).  Our old doctor looked like Santa Claus and every time she saw him she would start screaming even before he touched her.  But todays new doctor was a nice young man that she just stared and smiled at.  The tears only came after her two shots but that's to be expected.  So here are the new stats:
     Age: 5 months
Weight: 20 lbs (still off the charts at >97%)
Height: 25 3/4 inches (80%--something must be wrong because last month they say she was 26 in)
     Head Cir: 43.7 (90%)
That's a growth of 1 1/2 pounds, negative 1/4 inch (not sure about this), and 0.7 cm.  She never ceases to amaze me!

At 5 months Savannah is doing the following new things:
~ rolling from back to front.
~ eating an assortment of fruits--pears and prunes are her favorite.
~ finally showing interest in Maxwell and Lilly Belle (our chihuahuas) by pulling Lilly's hair.  There is still a lack of interest on their part.
~ realized that Mommy wears earrings so she pulls them all the time.
~ wearing no socks or shoes because of this warm southern weather so she has finally found her toes and realized that she can put them in her mouth--so funny!

~ learned that she can raise her voice so she now babbles loudly all the time especially if she feels that she is being ignored.

I've really noticed in the last couple of weeks how much she is changing.  At times, I look at her and wonder "where did my little baby go?".  Her physical appearance seems to have really changed lately and she is becoming quite the little person.  Every day is so much fun with her.  Even her worst days are some of my best days.  Funny how being a mother can do that to you :)
She's such a good snuggle bunny!

First trip to Super Target--we love the burbs!

Loving this early summer weather!

Check out the attitude.

Easter Blessings

This year we celebrated our first Easter as a family and our first Easter in the South!!  I can't remember it ever being as warm as it was this year.  Growing up we always had to wear sweaters over our dresses but because of the unusually warm temps sweeping the south, we spent the day in 85 degree weather.  Since we just arrived in Chapel Hill on Saturday, we actually skipped going to church.  I know, I know....I'm currently searching for a church right now.  Hopefully we'll find a good one to join soon.  For lunch we enjoyed a nice brunch at our new country club.  I can't wait to spend the summer up there at the pool :)  Maybe my tan will come out of a 7 year dormancy.

Savannah woke up to find her basket filled with goodies from the Easter bunny.  She was so cute and so into everything.

I know she can't eat chocolate yet but what's Easter without a chocolate bunny in your basket?!  So of course, hers was pink :)

I love getting her all dressed up and she looked so beautiful in her new Easter outfit.

It was such a wonderful day!  To make the day even more special, our good friend LoAn delivered a sweet baby boy, Kieran Christopher Austin!  What a wonderful Easter blessing!

Leaving NYC

After a busy, crazy week, we are finally all in Chapel Hill.  The movers took all our furniture this past Tuesday so we stayed for 3 nights in the city with a good friend.  I'm sure he had no idea what he volunteered for when he graciously invited 2 adults, 2 dogs, and a baby to come stay in his immaculate bachelor pad.  Hopefully we didn't leave any permanent damage.  We love Colin!!!

Then Friday morning we loaded up our car and began the first half of our trip.  Because Savannah isn't much of a road-tripper, we decided to make the 8 hour drive over 2 days.  We arrived in DC around 2:00 and after checking into the hotel and smuggling the dogs upstairs, we braved the festival traffic to go and take some cheesy tourist photos.  I think it took us an hour to drive 7 miles to get to the Lincoln Memorial.  Needless to say, Savannah was beyond sick of the car but she toughened up and let us spend a little while walking around the monuments.

Obviously this was taken early into the drive.

We left DC early Saturday morning and thankfully Savannah slept most of the drive.

We made it to Chapel Hill just in time to grab lunch at Jason's Deli (oh how I've missed suburb dining).  I had to do a lot of sweet talking to talk Oscar out of Chick-fil-A (his new favorite place) since I had given up fried foods for Lent.  What's the use in going to Chick-fil-A if I can't get waffle fries?!  Anyways, immediately afterwards we went to check on the house.  This was my first time actually seeing it in person.  All I can say is, "WOW"!!!  I did an amazing job designing and decorating from 600 miles away.  It still isn't quite done and there are some things that need to be fixed but all in all, it's going to be great.  Closing date is still set for April 15.
Yeah!! Our new home!

Our first time going in.

My new stove--woo hoo!!

So for the next couple of weeks our little family will be staying in a 500+ square foot hotel room.  It's a good thing we're accustomed to New York living or else this small space might drive us all crazy.  But it's a small price to pay for what we'll soon be getting :)
