Pumpkin Time!

I LOVE the month of October!!  You get the first bite of chilly weather, the leaves start to change colors, and pumpkins are the vegetable of the season.
On October 13th we rode the pumpkin train ride at the Museum of Life and Science in Durham.  This was our first year participating in this event and I must say, I enjoyed it more than the Santa train ride.  The little train takes drops you off at a little mini pumpkin patch where you get to pick out a pumpkin and then you can have snacks and decorate a bag to take it all home in.  Unfortunately, we had a difficult time finding a good pumpkin with no rotten spots.
this one may be a good one
nope, it's got a yucky spot
"Back off boy! This one is mine!"
"Dee, you're making me so mad!! No more pictures!"

This past Saturday we made the trek to Hill Ridge Farms.  This is one of my favorite places to take Savannah during the fall.  She has so much fun riding the ponies, the little train, and the hayride to the pumpkin patch.
her mission was to pick out the biggest pumpkin in the patch
"Ewww, that one is no good!"
so cute in her pumpkin shift dress
I look like I'm trying to sneak more than one pumpkin home.
fun times in the bounce house
Halloween is this week so I've only got one more month to enjoy all the pumpkin greatness.  Bring on the pumpkin cake, muffins, pie, and bread :)

The Greenbriar Fall 2012

The first weekend of October we took our annual trip to The Greenbriar up in While Sulphur Springs, WV (the Sea Island of the mountains as I like to call it).  We went a little bit earlier this year but we still managed to see some great fall foliage when it wasn't rainy and foggy.  This year we were lucky enough to have Uncle Michael come along with us.

Winner!
"Watch this shot."
apparently someone doesn't like playing by the rules

I love just walking around the beautiful grounds

Because the weather was cold and rainy most of Sunday we didn't get to enjoy the carriage ride; however, we were able to take part in afternoon tea both days.  Savannah loved watching the ballroom dancers perform and of course the yummy sweets.

Hopefully next year we'll be blessed with better weather but either way, we have a wonderful time while there.  I'm already looking forward to the next visit.

The growing belly with the little man

Because my family is dyeing to see the progress of my expanding waistline....here you go.
Month 1
Month 3
Month 4
Month 5
the little man at 18 weeks
Month 6
end of month 6
Month 7
Beginning of 8th Month
So far I've been right on par with where I was while pregnant with Savannah.  Actually there were a few months where I even weighed a little less than before despite the bigger looking belly.  The major differences this time around include the lack of morning/evening sickness, a lot more fatigue, stronger and earlier Braxton Hicks contractions, a higher belly, and lots more discomfort all around.  The few things that stayed the same include lack of restful sleep, loss of my sweet tooth, and major heartburn.  I suppose it's a small price to pay for the end result.....our sweet little man!

Only 2 months to go---woohoo!!!!!
