WEA turns 9 Months Old

Another month has quickly passed by and my little man is just another month closer to a year old....**sigh**  I can't believe this is the last single digit month.  Can you tell how much I dread my children getting older?  Time is definitely not on my side.
can he get any cuter?!
 Walker's 9 month milestones/achievements/new tidbits:
~he LOVES to stand on his feet! Of course he has to be holding on to something or someone has to support him but either way, it's his favorite position.  He is even able to pull himself up to standing all by himself.
~he still isn't able to crawl but he can do a very good army man, especially on the hardwood floors.  On carpet he gets around by doing a combo of log rolls and spinning.  Needless to say, he is no longer immobile meaning there is clean spot left in the house :)
~he can get himself into a sitting position from his stomach.
~he is eating more and more real foods and he actually prefers to feed himself from the pouches.  However, he has a strong aversion for any thick textures or clumps in his mouth.  So he'll only eat food that is completely pureed and smooth.  He is also drinking water from a sippy cup.
~his first two bottom teeth finally pushed through the surface around August 29th (8 months and 10 days old) and one top tooth came in around September 10th (8 months and 23 days old).
~he is a major biter!!!  He bites any and everything that he can put in his mouth.  This is unfortunate for me because I tend to be what and who he bites the most.  He almost became a formula-fed baby after a couple of very painful nursing sessions.
~A result of those painful nursing sessions is the use of the word "NO!!".  I think he actually understands the word even if he doesn't always obey it.
~he babbles often and usually loudly.  Of course he has to or else no one would ever hear him over his sister.
~speaking of Savannah, he still thinks she is the most hilarious person in the whole world.  Anything she does causes him to laugh uncontrollably.  It's the cutest sight!
~he is going through some major mommy attachment issues.  He really doesn't like for anyone other than me to hold him so he'll cry and/or squirm to try to get to me.
~he is becoming slightly possessive of his toys and he will cry if someone (ahem, Savannah) takes them away from him.
~we started our first mommy-and-baby class this month.  It's called My SweetArts and it's mostly a music class with an art project and free play at the end.  He is really enjoying being around all the other babies and he loves to watch Mrs. Michelle play her guitar.
~I think I have finally solved his skin problem.  He appears to have very sensitive skin especially on his face.  Whenever he rubs it on the carpet, his stuffed animals or lovey, his mattress at night, my shirt while in the carrier, etc, it gets irritated and becomes very red.  Also anywhere on his body where his clothes or his diaper cause friction, his skin becomes red, dry, and irritated.  So the only thing to do is keep him well moisturized and wait for him to grow out of this which the doctor says he will.
~he is on a pretty consistent schedule nowadays.  He wakes up anywhere between 6:00 and 6:45 am, goes down for his morning nap about 2 and a half to 3 hours later (usually 9:00 to 9:30), sleeps for about an hour and a half, takes his second nap 3 hours later, sleeps for about an hour and 15 minutes, then finally begins his bedtime routine promptly at 7:00 pm.  He's usually asleep no later than 8:00 pm and on average wakes up once a night around 3:00 am.  Overall it's a pretty easy schedule and when it's followed, he's quite the happy boy.
he loves bath time
standing up like such a big boy
watching sister play in the yard
like I said, no clean spot in the house
love these 2 sooooo much!!
fun times in the ball pit

Walker's 9 Month Measurements:
Weight: 28 lbs 6 oz (so far off the charts that he's in another galaxy)
Height: 30 inches (90th percentile)
Head circumference: 47.8 (95th percentile)

So yes, my little man really isn't all that little but that just gives me more to squeeze.  He is still the sweetest and the most easy-going baby.  He is always smiling and giggling and just seems to love life.  If all babies were like him I would want 6 more :)  We just love this little man soooooo much!!!  Now on to the 10th month......

Kickoff of Fall

Today is officially the first day of fall and what better way to celebrate that with a trip to the apple orchard.  This was has been a yearly tradition of ours since before Oscar and I were even married and this was the first year for our little family of four.  Savannah loves to pick apples and as soon as we come home she's ready to start baking.  First up might be a big batch of applesauce followed by a yummy apple cake.  Let the fall cooking begin!!!

Summer trip to NYC

This was supposed to be a 2 part post but since the second trip was cancelled it's now just a part 1 that's waaaaaayyyyyy overdue.

Trip One--July 19-21
This trip was for Oscar to race in the New York City triathlon and we just tagged along. Even Grams was able to meet us up there and hang out in the city with us.
We arrived on Friday afternoon in time to enjoy a nice stroll through the park.
On Saturday we did our typical stops and exposed Little Man to this great city since it was his first time visiting.
playing the piano at Eloise's at the Plaza
quick walk through Rockefeller
American Girl flagship store
what trip is complete without lunch at the cafe
afternoon playtime in the park with the Austin family
Oscar's triathlon was on Sunday morning so we strolled through a crazy Times Square in order to visit the Disney Store.  Not sure why we always have to go there especially since there is a store just 25 miles from our house in Raleigh, but whatever.
entering the princess zone
trying on a Sophia dress
This is pretty much how I feel after braving Times Square, too.
It was a quick three days but as always we had a great time.  It's always fun to go back to the city to visit for a short visit.  Besides, after a few days I'm always reminded why we left in the first place :) Ha! Can't wait to go back next weekend!!
Oh and on a side note.....Oscar said that the NYC triathlon is now one of his favorites and will become a regular in his yearly schedule.
Nick even came out to support O
