Easter Weekend 2012

This year we stayed home and enjoyed a very low-key, traditional Easter.  On Saturday, we attended the Egg Hunt at our church.  This was Savannah's first of three egg hunts for the weekend so it was a good warm-up.  Twelve hundred eggs were thrown about the lawns and each child was allowed to collect about 13 eggs.  I think Savannah got her 13 within about three minutes.  She wasted no time in going after them.
Ready, Set, Go!!!!!!!!!!
she immediately started collecting
Once she had her 13, we had to check out the treats inside them.
She wasn't happy about the lack of chocolates.
"Ewww, not another sour candy!?!"
Ready to head to the next hunt.
Just a couple of hours later, we attended the Egg Hunt at the country club.  There appeared to be thousands and thousands of eggs thrown all over the driving range.  The range was divided into two sections--the upper area for the babies and toddlers and the lower area for the bigger kids.  Each area had one golden egg that you could exchange for a big prize.  Guess who found the first golden egg......Savannah!!!!  WooHoo!!!  She was so thrilled to exchange it for a Rapunzel Barbie doll.
All ready....notice that she is still holding onto her Fresh Beat concert ticket and wearing her KiKi headband and bracelets (the concert was 2 days prior to this).
She's showing Brad all her souvenirs.
this was the best picture we could get of the two of them

playing around on the putting green before the hunt begins
Here comes Brad with his slick moves
and she's off......
She actually walked up to the Easter Bunny to show him all her eggs.
But when we tried to get a picture, she ran off.
waiting patiently for her balloon animal to be made
Back at home, dyeing Easter eggs.
this year we did it without breaking a single one
say "cheese!"
Sunday morning and the Easter Bunny brought goodies!
"check it out, Mommy!"
"I got Callie" (for her train collection)

After church, we had a lovely brunch at the country club and then we went home to have our final egg hunt.
She would show off each egg as she found it.
Such a fun Easter weekend!!!  Savannah wanted to keep having egg hunts for days afterwards and she's actually still making her egg soup (you'll have to watch the Charlie Brown Easter to understand that one).  Oh that girl of mine......I love how she's really beginning to get into the holidays.  She definitely makes it more fun for us.

March in Review

I know, I know.....a March review in the middle of April but better late than never.  This year we had an early spring so most of March was spent playing outside while I battled the pollen.  Needless to say, the pollen always gets the better of me so I felt like I was sick for most of this month.

I feel like the following pictures tell the story of our month better than I could write it so here goes....
March 1st brought unusually warm weather so we spent the day enjoying the outside.
When we weren't outside, we were busy getting into things inside :)
Oscar turned 40 on March 4th!
of course that meant Savannah got to open all the cards/presents
Dee and his girl
ready to water the plants
We began decorating for Easter.
Uncle Mike came for a couple of visits.
Savannah on the attack!
Michael and Oscar built S's dress-up closet
she supervised
and then helped to paint it
More playtime outside
a possible future nature photographer???
here she is capturing the plants
Savannah and Lilly
a quick pic of me and my girl
park time

one of the many faces of Savannah
I have no explanation for the toplessness---she would run around fully naked if I would let her.
S's new thing is taking all her dolls/critters outside to potty like Max and Lil
they even get a treat when they come back inside
fun times at the chicken place (aka Chick-fil-A)
we baked a few desserts
the little southern belle
enjoying her first Dunkin Donut hot chocolate
rainy days spent playing at the mall playzone
first time painting finger and toe nails
first time wearing pig-tails
I ran the Tobacco Road 1/2 Marathon
Savannah and I attended the Mother-Daughter Tea at the country club
So March wasn't an incredibly busy month but we sure did have a lot of fun just playing at home.
