Fun times in the Valley

Savannah and I headed down to Harlingen, TX the last week in July to spend time with my parents.  Despite the long layover in Houston, Savannah was an excellent traveling companion.  She was very cooperative and easy going during all the transitions and boring times.

Grams and Grandad picked us up at the airport and we went straight to Lubby's for dinner----yum!!!  That's one check off my list of places to visit.  After dinner we went home and Savannah immediately jumped in the hot tub.  She LOVES the hot tub.  It's like her own little private pool that's just her size.

The next morning, after Savannah thoroughly soaking Grams while watering plants, she was back in the tub before breakfast.  After a quick bowl of Pink Hearts (aka Lucky Charms), we visited a neighbors pool where Savannah showed off her swimming skills.  She has gotten so good at swimming under water.  Now she just needs to figure out how to lift her head out of the water for air without touching the bottom of the pool.  After swimming in the big pool, where did she head????.....back to the hot tub of course :)
"hmmm, now how can I jump off the side into the floatie?"

On Thursday we loaded up the truck and headed to Padre to spend a few days at the beach.  Granny, Uncle Chuck, and Mac arrived shortly after us.  Then Harlan and Uncle Joe arrived Friday afternoon.  It was definitely close quarters, especially with 3 dogs, but we managed fine and had a great time.

Back to Grams and Grandad's house on Sunday afternoon meant Savannah was back in the hot tub.  We did manage a quick trip to the outlets so I could shop for baby boy A.  Of course we made a stop in the Disney Store in which Savannah stocked up on bigger sized princess dresses.  One can never have too many princess dresses.

Monday we spent a little more time at the pool and in the hot tub.  We had lunch from Sonic (yeah for cheese tater tots) and dinner at Las Vegas (finally, cheese enchiladas)---2 more checks off my list.  The day went by all too quickly and then it was time to pack up and get ready to head home on Tuesday.  Before heading to the airport we stopped by the Brownsville mall to ride the double decker carousel...twice.  Then we picked up Grandad and headed to the airport.

After a very tearful goodbye, we landed back in Raleigh/Durham.  Poor Savannah kept saying "I so sad" for the next couple of days.  Thank goodness for Skype---it makes Grams and Grandad not seem so far away.  We already can't wait to see them at Christmastime when baby brother arrives!
