Yikes! 10 Months!!

This past month went by so fast that I didn't even have time to do any blog posting since the 9th month.  The time seems to fly by probably because I feel as if all my time is spent chasing around a VERY active little lady.  When she crashes at night, so do I.
My sweet Savannah Grace at 10 months old!

Here is what Savannah has gotten into the past month:
~baby-proofing is no match for her--she somehow manages to break through into my cabinets!
~she currently has 6 full teeth--4 top and 2 bottom.
~she is officially in the big baby gym class; however, she's not too thrilled about it.  I think she likes being around the little immobile ones best.
~she loves giving kisses and she always gives Mommy one when asked but look out cause sometimes it turns into a bite!!
~yep, she's turned into a biter but only Mommy and Grams are the lucky ones to experience those 6 little sharp teeth piercing their skin--ouch!!! And unfortunately Mommy feels it multiple times a day.
~she loves to hide her toys by putting them up high on tables.  I searched for days trying to find a little turtle only to eventually see it up on the side table.
~she is finally clapping along to songs instead of after the songs.
~she has a new favorite face to make--I call it the "stink face".
~we finished our summer of swim lessons at the Y (thank goodness cause that water was COLD!!).  Savannah absolutely loves the water and she is able to kick and paddle.
~I don't want to say it's official just yet but Savannah has slept through the night 4 times in the past week--she's well on her way to being a big girl!!!!
~we had our first attempt at finger painting--I was trying to get her handprint but it just turned into a disaster afterwards.
"I am quite the artist."
"Let's see if it tastes as good as it looks."
"Ewww, not so much!"
~she loves to dance! She will hold on to the sofa, chair, or table and bounce her tushy up and down----soooo cute!!
~she has started to sing along when I sing to her or when I'm driving in the car singing along with the radio----hmmmm, maybe she's just trying to drown out my singing.
~her new favorite food is chicken hot dogs.
~she's going to be walking any day now.  She loves to push her walker all around the house.
This is how she plays with her old walker.

I can't believe in less than 2 months my little girl is going to be a year old!!  Where has the time gone?!

Charlotte Weekend

This past weekend we took a quick trip to Charlotte just to get out of town and to see some old and new friends.  We started off on Saturday with a trip to the North Carolina Zoo.
Savannah isn't too impressed with the giraffes
The monkeys, on the other hand, were entertaining.
checking out the elephants
they were pretty cool

Saturday night we met up with an old high school friend of mine that I hadn't seen in 11 years.  We finally got to introduce Savannah and Winn (they were born 4 days apart), and I think Savannah is quite smitten with the little man :)

"Back off ladies! He's all mine!!"
"Stop holding me back, Mom! I'm gonna get him!"
"Winn, I'm over here!"

After our late date night, we decided to sleep in, lounge around in our pjs, and watch cartoons.

You can see that Savannah has control of the remote.

After our lazy morning, we got dressed and headed out to the Nascar Hall of Fame.  No, we're not really fans but our hotel gave us free tickets and since my parents are such nascar fanatics, we felt like we had to go.

"I can't believe we're going in there!"
"SOOOOOO BORING!"
"I can drive one of those!"
"Close the door, Mom! Let's go!"
"I would demand a more comfy seat."

And of course, what out-of-town trip is complete without a trip to the local mall?!  Yes, after the Nascar stop and a quick nap, we went to the mall for a yummy lunch at Smith & Wollenskys.  I was hoping after filling Savannah up she would take another nap on the way home but that didn't happen.  But surprisingly she was very good and once 4:00 rolled around----ice cream break!!!  We made it home in time for dinner and then to bed early.  It was a fun but exhausting weekend trip.  Savannah already can't wait to see little Winn again :)

Now on to the 9th

So here we are again....the 8th month has come and gone all too quickly and we're on to the 9th month already.  I really think each month gets quicker and quicker.
Sweet Savannah Grace at 9 Months Old

Here are the new things Savannah is experiencing this month:
~ First tastes of chicken.  She wasn't a big fan of it alone but mixed with sweet potatoes and apples it became quite yummy.
This is what happens when Mama turns her back for a split second--opps!
~ Waving bye-bye to any and everyone and always at the appropriate time.  She has even developed an all new "hello" wave.
~ She loves to clap; unfortunately, not on demand and usually after the song we're trying to clap along to has ended.
~ Saying "baba" but not referring to anything in particular.
~ She can play ball by rolling the ball back to me.
This is my sweet girl about to throw the ball......
the same sweet girl with her game face on. (click on the pic to get the full effect)
~ She LOVES feeding Lilly Belle by hand (a big NO NO but she does it anyways).
~ She walks around her play area by holding on to the sofa.  Occasionally she thinks she can walk without holding on and that's how she gets those bruises on her head :(
"Look Mom! I'm standing on 1 leg!"
~ She has gotten her first three top teeth.
~ She can pick up pea-size objects with her thumb and pointer finger which has made her very efficient at self-feeding.
~ She got her ears pierced!!!!
~ She had her first babysitter come to play.  Of course she was fine but I on the other hand was a nervous wreck the whole time I was away.
~ She loves to look at books but she prefers to do it without anyone reading them to her--I guess she thinks she doesn't need the additional commentary.
~ And in case there is any doubt--she still has NOT brown eyes!!
I sure hope they stay this pretty hazel color!

And because she is so stinkin' cute...here are some extra pics.

Mama's little sous chef

"Look how tall I'm getting!"
"I hear what you're saying Mom but I'm still going to do whatever I want."
"Check out all my teeth!"
Me and my sweet girl

Savannah finally went back to the doctor last week so we have official stats.
Age: 8 months and 29 days
Weight: 22 lbs--95%  She's back ON the charts for the first time since birth--woohoo!
     Height: 28 inches--75%
     Head Circumference: 44.6 cm--73%
(Obviously I was a little off on my at-home measurements the past 2 months but not by much)
Prissy Girl Attitude: 9 out of 10 (She was only at 7 last month so that shows you how bossy she has become lately)

You scream! I scream!

We all scream for ice cream!!  Somehow it has now become part of our daily routine to have an ice cream break.  Savannah has even come to expect it everyday around 4:00.  Not only is it yummy and cool on these super hot summer days, but I think it also feels good on her sore gums.  Yep, we've got another tooth coming in on top any day now.
I've learned that this girl is definitely not picky when it comes to flavors--cookies-and-cream, mocha almond chip, mint chocolate chip, chocolate hazelnut, cookie dough, or even just plain ol' chocolate--this girl will eat it all!!  And watch out cause if you're not quick enough feeding her, she'll definitely let you know it.  I'm just glad that I now have an excuse to go get ice cream :)
at Cold Stone
in the car with a Dairy Queen blizzard
at a gelato cafe in TX
at TCBY
after dinner at Johnny Carinos
gelato on vacation in Miami
back at our old standby--TCBY

I love our new afternoon routine!!!  Ice cream makes everyday better :)
