She has almost completed her first school year. She has absolutely loved being a bear cub at her preschool. She doesn't quite understand that come fall she's going to be a new animal with new teachers and probably new classmates. I have no worries that she'll transition well into the three day 3-4-year old class.
She began taking speech therapy back in February. She loves going every week to see Mrs. Anne. In fact, after 2 weeks of me accompanying her into the session, she then told me that she can go in all by herself. She's really getting to be such a big, semi-independent little girl. As far as her speech goes, when she's thinking about it she greatly improves; however, at home she slides back into her normal comfortable speech. It's just going to take some time but she's definitely making baby steps every week.
She's almost finished with her fifth semester of Kindermusik. This semester she advanced to the Imagine That class which is a 45 minute class where the first 30 minutes are just for the kids and then the parents are allowed to participate in the last 15 minutes. The first day was a little rough at drop off but every class thereafter she walks upstairs all by herself and has a great time.
Savannah has become quite the drama queen. Everything becomes such a big deal....a small scratch is worthy of a trip to the ER, every little bump requires a bandaid, and the crying and wailing that goes along with it all is completely unbearable.
Her current favorites are....
~anything and everything Disney princess
~tv: Doc McStuffins, Little Einsteins, Jake and the Neverland Pirates, Sophia----basically all Disney Jr.
~activities: anything art related, playing doctor (as in Doc McStuffins), singing and listening to music (new favorite sing-along is Take Me Out to the Ballgame), playing outside with the neighbors, dancing
~friends: she calls all of the following her best friends---Lila, Emmerson, Katherine (unfortunately she just moved), Josie and Tess (they are twins and are always mentioned together), Christopher, Avi, and of course baby brother Walker.
She is slowing becoming a very helpful mini mommy. She is very good at entertaining Walker for short amounts of time. He is constantly in amazement over her until she gets too rough with him. It's a good thing he's so chunky or else I'm sure she would have already smothered him to death. Even when he gets upset she will try to comfort him by trying to hold him and saying "shhhh shhhhh shhhhh". And she gets very worried when he cries for any prolonged period of time so she'll ask me, "mom, is brother okay?". I love how loving and protective she is over him. Oh and don't even get me started on all the kisses. Poor little man!
I've been wanting to document some of Savannah's funny quotes---some she copies from her cartoons, some she repeats from me, and some are Savannah original.
~"Watch and learn ladies, watch and learn."
~"I crack you up."
~"well that's interesting"
~" I CAN NOT BELIEVE IT!" (referring to anything that is shocking/surprising/unexpected)
~"I want to look beautiful.....like on my birthday."
~"no Mom, I don't like my leggings like this. I like them low." (referring to low rise---where does my 3 year old get this??) and most recently said "don't pull them up too high for school" still referring to her leggings
~"oh yes, you're right, Mom" (not said nearly enough around here but I LOVE to hear it nonetheless)
~"give me a little boast" (when she needs to be lifted up high for something)
