I'm way behind on updating the blog. Two kiddos keep me busier than I expected.
The first weekend of April we traveled to Miami for Oscar to compete in the Nautica South Beach Triathlon. The was Walker's first vacation and also his first time on an airplane. Thankfully Oscar flew down with us and then Grams met us in Miami to help out but mostly to just play, too. We arrived late Thursday afternoon and by the time we picked up the rental car and checked into our hotel, the Sagamore, is was time for dinner. We rushed over to Joe's Stone Crabs just in time to beat the crowd. After a yummy dinner and a meltdown for Little Man, we headed back to the hotel to get settled in for the night. Grams and Savannah slept on the pull out sofa in the living room and Walker, Oscar, and I shared the king-sized bed in the bedroom.
Friday we woke up to a dreary overcast morning. Since it wasn't supposed to clear up we decided to spend the morning at the Miami Children's Museum. Savannah had soooo much fun. This was definitely one of the better kid's museums that we've visited. For lunch we exposed Grams to little Havana and ate an authentic Cuban meal at Versailles. Afterwards Savannah was wanting to head back to the hotel to play. She is such a hotel snob. She loves to just hang out and play in hotel rooms----the bigger the room the better. We even decided to stay in and order room service for dinner.
Saturday proved to be the best beach/pool day. We spent the whole morning and afternoon laying out by the pool. The ocean was way too cold for me and Walker so we stuck to our lounge chairs. He actually wasn't a big fan of the beach----too sunny and too windy. He much preferred his shady lounge chair by the pool. Savannah was happy either way; she's such a water girl.
Sunday morning Oscar left before the sun came up to get ready for his triathlon. Grams, Walker, Savannah, and I went out to the boardwalk around 9:15 am to get a glimpse as Oscar came running by during the last leg of the race. Afterwards, we grabbed breakfast and headed back out to the pool for our last couple of hours before heading home.

It was such a fun quick trip and we were sooooo happy to have had Grams along with us. Unfortunately the happy vacation feelings were short lived because once we arrived home, we realized that the Miami airport security people had gone through our luggage and stolen our nice, big camera. All of those great moments captured on the trip are now lost forever. Thankfully we still took some with our phones which is where all of these photos came from. However, I am still devastated that all of the great shots taken of Walker's first time in the pool will never be seen. Luckily we have another beach trip planned for Memorial Day.
