Lake Norman

The weekend after we returned from Sea Island a good friend of mine from college invited us out to their home on Lake Norman.  We were only able to stay one night but we tried to make the most of our time there.  We had so much fun on Saturday out on the boat and swimming in the lake.  Yes, I actually got in the water but I made sure to always be able to see my feet.  Everyone knows about my issues with fish.  Savannah had a blast!!  This was her first time out on a boat, wearing a life jacket (aka boat jacket), and swimming in a lake.  Her water skills never cease to amaze me.  She immediately jumped off the boat into the water and never looked back.

Sea Island 2012

Every year over the 4th of July we head down to Sea Island, GA----my favorite place in the US.  This was Savannah and Oscar's second year going and my 5th or 6th time.  It seems that every year it gets better and better.  The place is truly magical.  I love watching Savannah discover new things each year. Every year will only get better and more exciting for her as she is able to horseback ride, go to camp, attend tea parties, and so much more.

Our typical vacation day went something like this: 7am room service breakfast, Oscar went for bike ride while Savannah and I went for a run, beach club from about 10am until 3pm, rest time back in the room, dinner around 6ish, and finally bed around 9ish.  Oscar was able to go shooting and golfing and I was able to have 2 glorified back rubs (aka prental massages).  Overall, it was an extremely laid back, chill week.  Even the 6 hour drive there and back was surprisingly easy.  Savannah has improved by leaps and bounds as a traveler.  Let's hope she keeps this up.
