Sippy Cup Attempt
Today Savannah attempted to drink water out of a sippy cup. Okay, so she wasn't really trying to drink. She just puts everything in her mouth and eventually the mouth piece made it's way in. After chewing on it for a while, much to her surprise she finally managed to suck some water in her mouth. I think it startled her so much that she forgot what she was doing and dropped her cup. She quickly forgot about that and moved on to something else to put in her mouth. She gets that short attention span from her father and her grandaddy.
NYC Going Away Party
Last Saturday our friends, Colin, Jackie, and Jassel, threw us a going away party. It was so nice to have everyone, including the kids, together one last time before we leave the city. We feel so blessed to have had these wonderful people in our lives. Over the past 10 years for Oscar and 2 years for me, we have shared so many wonderful moments together. From fabulous trips, beautiful weddings, precious babies, and numerous fun times, these people have had such a great impact on our lives. Here are just a few pics from the party.
Thank you everyone for such a wonderful Saturday afternoon! We're going to miss you guys! Please come and visit us anytime!!

First Tastes of Fruit Continued
This morning I managed to get a couple of pictures of Savannah eating her applesauce. I guess even sweet apples are still a little too tart for her tastes. Maybe I should try sweetening it up a little. And I now stand corrected--she appears to like bananas. Or maybe she just likes them compared to the apples :)
I guess I passed my sweet tooth on to my child. That only makes sense considering she is the product of a former pastry chef.

First Tastes of Fruit
It's been a week now since Savannah has had the go-ahead to start eating fruits and it's definitely been an interesting week. I've made her pear and applesauce and we've tried mashed bananas. Feeding her applesauce looks like I'm feeding her a lemon. She makes the funniest face. I haven't been able to capture it on camera but I'm still working on it.
She absolutely loves pears!! I think she would keep eating if I didn't make her stop.
We're still not so sure about bananas. I think she could care less about them. Maybe she's like her mamma because I DESPISE bananas.
I can't wait to get down south (one week to go!!!) and give her a real peach. One that's nice and soft and juicy--not like these rocks we get up north. Hmmmm, I wonder what we'll try next week :)

This is how she lets me know when she's done--talk about a drama queen!!

4 Month Doctor Update
My sweet Savannah is officially a chunker!!! This months stats are as follows:
Age: 4 months 10 days
Weight: 18 lbs 8 oz (off the charts >97%)
Height: 26 inches (95%)
Head Cir: 43 cm (91%)
That's a growth of 2 lbs, 2 inches, and 1 cm in a month!!!
Here is just a recap of my conversation with the doctor.
Dr "Is she holding and grabbing with one hand?"
Me "She grabs EVERYTHING!"
Dr "Is she fully supporting her head?"
Me "Absolutely"
Dr "Is she okay standing on her feet?"
Me "She loves standing"
Dr "She's probably not rolling over yet"
Me "Nope, and she doesn't really seem interested in doing it either"
Dr "that's because she's too chunky! She doesn't have the strength to move all that weight"
Dr "How often is she nursing?"
Me "When she's awake, about every 2 1/2 to 3 hours."
Dr "That girl needs to start real food ASAP! Cereal, fruits, and veggies today!"
Me thinking "phew, that's good since she already started cereal"
Dr "Is she teething yet?"
Me "Should she be ALREADY?! I thought that wasn't until 7-8 months"
Dr "Well she's on the growth track of a 1 year old so don't be surprised if one pops in. That could also explain why she's waking up more often during the night now......other than that, she's magnificiant!" (his word not mine, although I do have to agree)
So there you go. My child is ENORMOUS, she's 4 months going on 1 year, and she could pop a tooth any day. Where is the time going?! I feel like we just brought her home from the hospital last week.
Savannah, Mommy and Daddy love you very much and we're so thankful that you're such a healthy and happy baby girl!

Savannah's 4 month update
Wow, how the time flies by! I feel like I was just giving the 3 month update. We don't go to the doctor until this Thursday so I'll add the weight and height stats then.
At 4 months Savannah is doing the following:
~still attempting to roll over. She seems quite content in however she falls and isn't really worried about having to change her positions yet.
~eating rice cereal from a spoon and actually enjoying it!
~loves jumping and swinging in her johnny jump.
~she's super ticklish under her arms and around her chunky thighs.
~wearing size 6-12 month clothes and size 3 diapers.
~suffering from a slight mommy attachment issue.
~still shoving everything in her mouth sometimes to the point of gagging.
~responds to her name (at least most of the time).
~can almost do a full sit-up--too bad she continues it into a face plop.
~make it through an entire baby gym class without getting fussy and appears to have a really great time.
~still struggling with bed time and night feedings. Sometimes does great and other times she fights all night before passing out at 11 pm and then wants to be nursed every 2 hours during the night. (That's what I get for saying I miss those early newborn days)
~remains a very high maintenance little girl!! My biceps should be huge from all that weight that's constantly hanging from them :)

Don't think that's going to fit in there.
